SR 26 – Dusty to Colfax – Add fourth climbing lane

Project overview

This project will create a fourth truck climbing lane, or passing lane, for vehicles who travel along SR 26 between Dusty and Colfax in Whitman County. Three climbing lanes were constructed on this section of SR 26 between 2022 and 2023. The Washington legislature approved the addition of a fourth climbing lane which will be constructed in the summer of 2024. See climbing lane locations by clicking on the Maps & drawings tab below.

What to expect

This project is scheduled to last 45 working days with work taking place Monday through Friday during the daytime hours. Drivers can expect single lane closures through the work zone on SR 26 between mileposts 130 and 133. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone via one-way alternating traffic.
