SR 3 - SR 304 Interchange Improvements Project - Bremerton

August 2017

Why is WSDOT making modifications to the interchange of SR 3 and SR 304?
Southbound State Route 3 approaching SR 304 in Bremerton is the location of regular congestion during the afternoon commute. The resulting congestion increases delay and travel time.

The current configuration has southbound SR 3 merging from two lanes to one. This project will use the existing highway footprint to extend the second lane of SR 3 from where it currently ends for roughly one mile.

Crews will also repave southbound SR 3 between milepost 36 to 36.8 and repair a bridge element by removing a bump at end of SR 304 bridge approaching SR 3.

This construction project is the result of a WSDOT study that solicited feedback from commuters, residents, and local businesses who rely on both highways. WSDOT thanks all who gave input on how to relieve congestion at this intersection.

The End Result
The project will improve traffic flow on southbound SR 3 through this area.

This project will also add new traffic cameras at the intersection of SR 3 and SR 304.

Project Benefits

  • Decreased congestion for southbound SR 3 drivers
  • Added traffic cameras which help WSDOT manage traffic and relay roadway information to the public.
