LACEY – Big improvements are coming for a busy portion of State Route 510 southeast of Lacey. On Monday, Feb. 11, Washington State Department of Transportation contractor Active Construction Inc. (ACI) will start building a new roundabout that will serve all users of the state highway at Meridian Road.

The roundabout will help improve sight distance, and reduce congestion. There will also be improvements for pedestrians and bicyclists.

Crews will do most of the work just off the highway to reduce traffic disruption. If the weather cooperates, WSDOT plans to open the new roundabout this summer.

In addition to the roundabout, crews later will repave a section of SR 510 on each end of the roundabout. Crews also will remove wheel ruts and cracked asphalt from the area of Old Pacific Highway to Reservation Road SE. Drivers can expect daytime delays for one-way alternating traffic during construction.
