SR 18 - EB Soosette Creek to Holder Creek - Paving & Deck Overlay - Closure details & maps

Around-the-clock work on westbound SR 18 at Issaquah-Hobart Road

Beginning at 5 a.m. Monday, May 13, contractor crews will extend the one-lane section of westbound SR 18 by about a half-mile, across the Issaquah-Hobart Road overpass. This temporary configuration will remain in place around-the-clock for approximately 65 days while crews repair and repave the bridge deck. When the work is complete in mid-July, the highway will return to its regular two-lane westbound configuration.

The speed limit will also be reduced to 50 mph during this work, and oversized vehicles will be prohibited from traveling in the westbound direction across the bridge.

Work plan & maps

Contractor crews will work in one lane at a time. They will first grind off the old concrete in the right lane, make any needed repairs to the bridge deck and repave it. When that is complete, they’ll shift traffic onto the new pavement and repeat the process in the left lane.

 Overnight full closures

The project will require up to eight overnight full closures of westbound SR 18 so crews can safely set temporary barriers and pour new concrete. During these closures, travelers will use the Issaquah-Hobart Road off- and on-ramps to bypass the work zone, with a uniformed police officer directing traffic at the intersection.
