US 101 - Elwha River Bridge

Description: WSDOT will replace the 1926, 388-foot concrete arch bridge after successfully serving the community for more than 90 years in Clallam County. The new bridge will be 40 feet wide and accommodate two 12-foot lanes and two-8 foot shoulders. Additionally, improvements will be made to the US 101/Hot Springs Road intersection alignment. Travelers are encouraged to stay informed with bridge inspections or construction announcements.

Lake Crescent Highway Rehab Project
US 101 Region: Olympic County: Clallam

Description: The National Park Service & Federal Highway Administration will rehabilitate 12 miles of Highway 101 around Lake Crescent and 4 miles of East Beach Road to address safety and long‐term maintenance issues.
Work schedule: Crews working for Olympic National Park are conducting erosion control, milling and paving.

No construction until March. From March 15-31, drivers can expect:

  • Half-hour closures during weekday work hours, with short delays after-hours to accommodate alternating single lane traffic.
  • Limited 4-hour closures (9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays only) and 6-hour overnight closures (10 p.m. - 4 a.m. Mondays through Wednesdays only) may be scheduled and will be announced in advance.

US 101 - Hoquiam River - Riverside Bridge - Bridge Painting

Description: Crews will repaint the nearly 50-year-old, US 101 Hoquiam River Riverside Bridge to preserve and protect the structure for years to come. Bridge painting is more cost effective than replacement. Project page.
Work Schedule:  Expect day and night construction with single lane closures beginning summer 2019 through fall 2020. WSDOT will work to accommodate bicyclists and pedestrians. No impacts to boating traffic.

US 101/N of SR 107 - Stabilize Slope

Description: This section of US 101, also known as Cosi Hill, has a history of slides reoccurring under the highway. It has become not cost-effective to continue repaving the roadway until further earthwork can be done. This project aims to address just that. Crews will drill 4' diameter holes nearly 50' deep and fill in the remaining sections with rock in an effort to dramatically stabilize this stretch of highway. Drivers will encounter shifted lanes and reduced speeds during this two-season construction project.

SR 107 - Chehalis River Bridge - Structural Rehabilitation and Bridge Painting 
US 12 Region: Olympic County: Grays Harbor Location: Milepost(s) 6.9

Description: This project replaces the timber on the south approach of the 58-year-old, SR 107 Chehalis River Bridge, while installing modern safety rails and painting the steel structure on the bridge. A rehabilitated bridge will reduced overall maintenance costs and preserve the bridge against corrosion. Project page. 
Work Schedule: During construction, the bridge will remain open to local traffic who will encounter one-way alternating traffic as well as occasional night and full weekend closures. All other traffic, including truck traffic, will detour around the bridge during construction.

  • Construction will begin summer 2019 and be complete by winter 2019. 

Mox Chehalis Road Bridge Replacement

Description: Shoulder closure as contractor crews for Grays Harbor PUD conduct vegetation management near the highway.
Work Schedule: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each Monday through Thursday from Feb. 25-March 11.

Description: Guardrail repair on southbound SR 105 just south of Aberdeen. Drivers will see a single lane of alternating traffic controlled by flaggers.

US 101 - Old Gardiner Rd to N of W Uncas Rd - Paving and Bridge Deck Repair

Description: Beginning spring 2019, drivers can expect one-way alternating traffic as crews repave nearly 8 miles of US 101 from east of the Clallam-Jefferson County line to north of the US 101/SR 104 interchange. View project web page.

US 101 - West Jefferson County - Remove Fish Barriers

Description: WSDOT will replace outdated, damaged culverts that run under US 101 at Steamboat Creek, Harlow Cree and Fisher Creek between Queets and Kalaloch. The new culverts will be replaced with concrete girder bridges and are expected to open up nearly nine miles of potential fish habitat.
Work Schedule: Motorists should expect daytime construction, reduced speeds with a single lane detour controlled by a temporary signal at each site beginning summer 2019 through fall 2020.  Any roadway closures will be announced in advance. View project web page.

Description: Utilitry crews for Clallam County PUD will alternate traffic with flaggers to replace old poles.
Work Schedule: 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning Feb. 11-22. Work will cease at noon on Friday, Feb. 15 and no work will occur Feb. 18 due to the holiday.

Highway: SR 104 Region: Olympic County: Jefferson  Location: Milepost(s) 14

Description: Expect up to a total 4-hour closure of the SR 104 Hood Canal Bridge to vehicular traffic so that bridge maintenance crews can conduct repairs to the east half of the bridge lift. Drivers are encouraged to sign up for email alerts and check the WSDOT Hood Canal Bridge web page for up to the minute bridge information.
Work Schedule: 10 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21 to 2 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22.
