US 2 Easy Street East Pedestrian Trail Project #9310

County: Chelan   Highway: US 2   Region: North Central

Location: US 2 MP 119-120

Description:  In this $400K project, Pipkin Construction is building a paved trail connecting the US 2/ Easy St. intersection to the Apple Capital Loop Trail at Euclid Avenue. Project started March 26 and should be complete late April.

Work schedule: Monday through Thursday 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Expect lane shifts for northbound and southbound Euclid Ave. traffic.  No delays anticipated.

SR 28 Ephrata to Soap Lake Paving and ADA Compliance #9367

County: Grant   Highway: SR 28  Region: North Central

Location: MP 44.5-53.0 (Ephrata to Soap Lake)

Description: In this $3.6 million project, Columbia Asphalt and Ready Mix crews will lower utilities within city limits and update deficient sidewalk curb ramps to meet ADA standards.  Project began March 25 and should be complete in August.

Work schedule: Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Expect no traffic impact but shoulder and sidewalk closures.  Pedestrian detours will be used as needed.

NCR Centerline Rumble Strips #9348

Counties: Chelan, Douglas, Grant, Okanogan   Highways: US 2,97, SR 17,170, 172  Region: North Central

Location: US 2 MP 104-Peshastin, US 97 MP 246-248-Wells Dam, SR 17 MP 68-75 SR 282 to Soap Lake, then North to Coulee City- MP 96, SR 170 MP 0-2 West of Warden and SR 172 MP 18-21-Mansfield and East to MP 35-SR 17

Description:  In this $320K project, Specialized Pavement Marking, Inc. crews are installing centerline rumble strips. Project began April 8 and should be complete this month.

Work schedule: Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Expect flaggers and one-way piloted traffic control with delays up to 15 minutes.  Work is scheduled this week for the following locations:

  • US 97  MP 246.5-248 –Wells Dam
  • SR 17  MP 67.7-96.5- Ephrata to Coulee City
  • SR 172  MP 17.8-35- W. of Mansfield to SR 17

SR 285 Wenatchee Area Paving and ADA Compliance- Contract #9260

County: Chelan   Highway: SR 285 Region: North Central

Location: MP 0.79-MP 5.04 Through Wenatchee-Bridge St. north to US 2.

Description: In this $6M project, Central Washington Asphalt crews repaired and paved 4 miles of SR 285 as well as numerous adjacent city side streets.  They also updated ADA curb ramps and signal systems as well as deck preservation work on the bridges over the Wenatchee River.  Work began June 24, 2018 and was shut down for winter on Nov. 8 and resumed April 8, 2019 and should be done this week.

Work Schedule: Sunday through Friday NIGHTS, 7:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. expect lane closures on Mission St., Wenatchee Ave. and side streets for striping work.

US 97 Boundary Bridge #9323

County: Kittitas  Highway: SR 97  Region: North Central

Location: MP 159-160 near Swauk Campground

Description: In this $4.5M project, WHH Nisqually Construction Services will construct a concrete bridge to replace an old culvert that created a fish passage barrier. Work will include a detour widening to shift traffic while the bridge is constructed half at a time.  Two-way traffic will be maintained outside working hours throughout the life of the project, except some instances of work that may require overnight flagging. No full closures of US 97 are planned for this project.  Work started April 15 and is scheduled to be complete in late October.

Work schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., expect flagger controlled traffic with delays up to 20 minutes near Swauk Campground as the contractor begins construction of the temporary detour widening.

NCR ADA Compliance Project #9327

Counties: Chelan, Grant   Highway: US 2, I-90  Region: North Central

Location: US 2 Nason Creek Rest Area, US 2 MP 99.04 to 100.70 (Leavenworth), I-90 Winchester WB Rest Area

Description: In this $714,113 project, Merno & Nelson Construction Corporation will improve ADA curb ramps, gutter, and sidewalks at the Nason Creek Rest Area, the Winchester Rest Area, and along US 2 through the City of Leavenworth.

Work schedule: Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Expect delays.Traffic impacts include center lane closures with lane shifts in Leavenworth as well as shoulder and sidewalk closures.  Pedestrian detours will be in place as needed.

NCR Seal Project #9365

Counties: Okanogan, Grant   Highway: SR 155, SR 243  Region: North Central

Location: SR 155 MP 29 – 79 (Coulee Dam to Omak), SR 243 MP 0 – 28.26 (Vernita to Vantage)

Description: In this $8.5M project, Granite Construction is resurfacing SR 155 from Coulee Dam to Omak, SR 243 from Junction 24 to Junction 26, & SR 213 from US 97 to Malott.  Work will include crack sealing, shoulder repair, pavement repair, asphalt paving, and chip seal. Work starts April 22 and is expected to be complete in August.

Work schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Expect delays of 20 minutes in 2 separate work zones with flaggers and one-way piloted where crews are removingals between Junction 24 & Junction 26 and illumination & shoulder work at the intersection of SR 243/SR 26.  Drivers may encounter.

SR 26/Railroad Bridge Deck Repair #9275

County: Adams, Highway: SR 26 Region: North Central

Location: MP 57.69 to MP 57.72,(between the Junction of SR 26 & SR 17 on the west and the Junction of SR 26 & US 395 on the east).

Description: In this $1.2M project, N.A. Degerstrom Inc. is replacing the deck of the bridge over BNSF Railroad tracks.  Work began Oct. 15 and will be complete by early December.  

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday the bridge will be closed at all traffic and a detour will be in place in place using state routes 17, 260, and US 395, which adds 14 miles to the trip compared to driving the closed portion of SR 26.

Aeneas Valley East Crack Seal
County: Okanogan  Highway: SR 20 Region: North Central
Location: MP 274 – 289 (Aeneas Valley Rd. to Wauconda Summit)

Description:  WSDOT maintenance crews are crack sealing east of Tonasket as weather permits.

Work Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Expect flaggers and one-way piloted traffic control with delays up to 20 minutes.

Olds Station/Chatham Hill Sewer Expansion (City of Wenatchee)

County: Chelan  Highway: SR 285  Region: North Central

Location: MP 28 (Easy Street ramp) 

Description:  The City of Wenatchee’s first phase of the sewer expansion from Horan Road north of Olds Station Road, across SR 285 and through the Chatham Hill neighborhood. 

Work schedule: Beginning Wednesday (4/24) at 7 a.m. the contractor will close the ramp to continue work on sewer extension.  Closure is planned for 24 hours, to reopen on Thursday morning.  Traffic detour to US 2 ramp will be in place during closure.

Fiber Cable Installation
County: Okanogan  Highway: SR 153, SR 20  Region: North Central

Location: Junction of SR 153 and SR 20 

Description:  Contractor for Century Link will be installing fiber cables at the junction of SR 153 and SR 20. 

Work schedule: Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Expect intermittent flagger-controlled traffic with delays and shoulder closures at the work site.

35th Street NW – NW Empire Avenue to Cascade Avenue Project (Douglas County)

County: Douglas   Highway: US 2/97  Region: North Central

Location: US 2/97 at Cascade Avenue 

Description:  This project will extend 35th Street across Cascade Avenue to the west to connect with Empire Avenue in Douglas County.

Work schedule: Beginning Wednesday (4/24) at 7 a.m. the contractor will close Cascade Street at the intersection with US 2/97 to continue with work on the project.  There will be a signed detour.

Sewer Line Installation (City of Chelan)
County: Chelan  Highway: SR 97A  Region: North Central

Location: SR 97A MP 233 – 234 (Don Gordon Bridge) 

Description:  Contractor for the City of Chelan will install a sewer main wear the Don Gordon Bridge in the City of Chelan. 

Work schedule: Thursday and Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. expect flagger controlled traffic with delays.

SR 28/13th Avenue Roundabout (City of Quincy)

County: Grant   Highway: SR 28  Region: North Central

Location: SR 28 MP 28 (intersection with 13th Avenue) 

Description:  The City of Quincy has contracted Tommer Construction to build a roundabout at the intersection of SR 28 and 13th Avenue.

Work schedule: Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.  Expect lane shifts and flagger-controlled traffic with short delays, or a long detour.
