US 2 - Deer Road to Day Mt Spokane Rd

Project news

June 2019

US 2 is being resurfaced with hot mix asphalt from Deer Road to Colbert Road. In addition, turn lane enhancements are being constructed between SR 206 and Day/Mt. Spokane Road.

In 2014-2015, Corridor Review Study was performed with extensive community input to explore traffic movement opportunities in this area. The study identified affordable near-term safety improvements on US 2 from Deer Road to Day Mt. Spokane Road that are part of this 2017 construction project.

Why is WSDOT paving and enhancing this highway?
The new layer of hot mix asphalt will protect the underlying roadway structure.  The turning lane improvements will reduce conflicts for vehicles entering and exiting the highway from local roadways and commercial developments.

The End Result
A smoother highway and reduced collisions.

Needs & benefits

The new pavement will protect the public investment in the highway infrastructure.  Turning movement changes will reduce collisions.

This project design was completed, the job was advertised for contractor bids, and built during the 2017 season.
