Tacoma Narrows Bridge tolling

Tolling on the SR 16 Tacoma Narrows Bridge helps repay the costs to build the second span of the bridge which opened in 2007. Tolls are only collected for trips headed to Tacoma, and toll rates are fixed (meaning it costs the same amount to cross the bridge, no matter when you travel).

How to pay

You have three options to pay a toll on the Tacoma Narrows Bridge:

• Good To Go! account: With a Good To Go! account and pass installed in your vehicle, you pay the lowest toll rate and don't have to worry about stopping at a toll booth or waiting for a bill to arrive in the mail. Learn more about Good To Go! accounts and passes.
• Toll booth: You can stop at a toll booth to pay with cash or credit card for $1 more than the Good To Go! pass rate. Use exit 8 on SR 16 to access the toll booths.
• Pay By Mail: If you don't have a Good To Go! account and you skip the toll booth, we’ll take a picture of your license plate and mail a bill to the address on your vehicle registration with the Department of Licensing. The Pay By Mail toll rate is $2 higher that then Good To Go! pass rate.

Toll rates

Drivers who choose to register their license plate on a Good To Go! account without a pass, called Pay By Plate, pay an extra 25 cents per trip on top of the Good To Go! pass rate. 

Exemptions

All vehicles must pay a toll except for emergency vehicles, vanpools and transit. Carpools and motorcycles pay tolls just like all other personal vehicles,

Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC)

The Tacoma Narrows Bridge Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) is a governor-appointed, nine-member committee composed of permanent residents of the bridge area. This committee is required by law to make toll rate recommendations to the Washington State Transportation Commission.

The citizens advisory committee bylaws state that "a quorum will consist of a majority (5) of the duly appointed nine (9) members."
