Needs & benefits

In the Maltby area of Snohomish County between Monroe and Woodinville, SR 524 is also known as Maltby Road and Yew Way, both just west of SR 522. With the growing population in the area, traffic has increased to about 13,000 vehicles each day on the Yew Way portion of SR 524 and about 7,900 use the Maltby Road section. To help improve traffic movement in this area we will adjust the intersection, widen Yew Way and add a left turn only lane from Yew Way onto Maltby Road, along with a traffic island on Maltby Road.

In addition to work on the Yew Way portion, Snohomish County is installing a railroad crossing gate for tracks that cross the Maltby Road portion of SR 524. We will install a stop sign for eastbound SR 524 traffic before the rail crossing.
