SR 536 - Skagit River to I-5 Paving and ADA Compliance - Complete March 2020

Overview

In 2019, Washington State Department of Transportation contractor crews from Granite Construction repaved State Route 536/Division Street/West 3rd Street from the Skagit River Bridge to Interstate 5 and the on- and off-ramps at the I-5/SR 536 interchange in Mount Vernon.

Crews also upgraded 30 sidewalk areas, creating wide ramps, more gradual slopes and improved push button accessibility. The improvements create better sidewalk connections and improve safety for people of all abilities.

Timeline

November 2018: Advertised project for competitive bidding.
May 2019: Project begins.
March 2020: Project complete.

The total estimated cost for this project was $2.5 million.
