Express Lanes Schedule Changes

Description: The I-5 express lanes are used to assist the flow of traffic during busy travel times. These lanes are scheduled to move in the direction that will relieve the most congestion from the transportation system.

  • High Impact - Friday, June 21 - The northbound I-5 express lanes will close at 9 p.m. 
  • High Impact - Saturday, June 22 - The I-5 express lanes will be open in the northbound direction only from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The lanes will not open in the southbound direction.
  • Sunday, June 23 - The I-5 express lanes will open in the southbound direction at 9 a.m. 

SB S Lucile St to Spring St Pavement Repair - #9235

Description: WSDOT contractor crews are replacing broken concrete panels, grinding and repaving southbound I-5 and the collector/distributor between Spring Street and South Lucile Street in Seattle.

  • High Impact – Friday, June 21, to the morning of Sunday, June 23 – All lanes of the southbound I-5 mainline just north of Yesler Way will close from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. During this time, all traffic will be diverted to the southbound I-5 collector-distributor lanes.
  • Sunday, June 23, to the morning of Monday, June 24 – The West Seattle Bridge/South Spokane Street on-ramp to the southbound I-5 collector-distributor lanes will close from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. This work is weather-dependent.
  • High Impact - Sunday, June 23, to the morning of Monday, June 24 – All lanes of the southbound I-5 mainline just south of James Street be closed from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. nightly. During this time, all traffic will be shifted to the collector-distributor lanes. This work is weather-dependent.
  • Monday, June 24, to the morning of Friday, June 28 – The Spring Street on-ramp to the southbound I-5 collector-distributor lanes will close from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly. This work is weather-dependent.
  • Monday, June 24, to the morning of Wednesday, June 26 – The southbound I-5 collector-distributor lanes off-ramp to South Dearborn Way will close from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly. This work is weather-dependent.
  • Monday, June 24, to the morning of Friday, June 28 – The southbound I-5 collector-distributor lanes off-ramp to South Airport Way will close from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly. This work is weather-dependent.
  • High Impact – Monday, June 24, to the morning of Friday, June 28 – The southbound I-5 collector/distributor will close at Airport Way from 11 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. nightly. During this time, all traffic will exit via the Airport Way off-ramp and follow the signed detours in place to access southbound I-5. This work is weather-dependent.
  • High Impact - Wednesday, June 26, to the morning of Friday, June 28 - The southbound I-5 collector-distributor lanes ramp to eastbound I-90 will be closed from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. nightly. This work is weather-dependent. 

NB MLK Jr Way to NE Ravenna Br Pavement Repair - #8952

Express Lanes Entrances Electronic Sign Replacement - #9272

Description: WSDOT contractor crews are replacing the sign structures and brackets, along with the electrical and fiber optic systems at seven entrances to the I-5 express lanes. A few of the sign structures will also be redesigned to create a better viewing angle.

Ship Canal Bridge Maintenance

Roy St to N 145th St Paving & ADA Compliance - #9256

Description: WSDOT contractor crews are grinding and repaving both directions of SR 99 between Roy Street and North 145th Street in Seattle. Dozens of curb ramps are also being rebuilt or added to provide better sidewalk connections for people of all abilities.

Aurora Bridge Painting (Stage 2) - #9168

    • The Fremont Avenue North on-ramp to southbound SR 99. 
    • The SR 99 off-ramp to Raye Street. 
  • Monday, June 17, to the morning of Friday, June 21 - One lane in each direction of SR 99 over the Aurora Bridge will be closed from 9 p.m to 5 a.m. nightly. 
  • Saturday, June 22, to the morning of Monday, June 24 - One lane in each direction of SR 99 over the Aurora Bridge will be closed from 9 p.m to 5 a.m. nightly.
