Skagit County

SR 538 Highway Widening - Mount Vernon

Description: City of Mount Vernon contractor crews will do work associated with its SR 538/College Way widening project.
Work schedule:

  • Friday, Dec. 6, to the morning of Monday, Dec. 9 - Crews will close the on-ramp from SR 538/College Way to southbound I-5 from 11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, through 4 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25 for widening work. Signs will detour drivers to George Hopper Road during this closure.
  • Friday, Dec. 6, to the morning of Monday, Dec. 9 - Crews will close the off-ramp from northbound I-5 to SR 538/College Way from 11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, through 4 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25 for widening work. Signs will detour drivers to George Hopper Road during this closure.

Island County

SR 20 Deception Pass Bridge and Canoe Pass Bridge - Painting and Special Repair - #9344

Description: In 2019, WSDOT contractor crews from Eagle Industrial Painting will start at two year bridge painting and special repair project.

Work schedule:

  • No work will happen on this project during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
  • Until further notice - Parking along SR 20 is limited during bridge painting work.
  • Until further notice - Loud sandblasting work could happen daily Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Visitors to the area and Deception Pass State Park should prepare for this noise and consider packing hearing protection for young children.
  • Monday, Dec. 2, through the morning of Saturday, Dec. 7 - Crews will close one lane of SR 20 over Deception Pass and Canoe Pass bridges nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for bridge painting work. Flaggers will alternate traffic through the open lane.
