SR 17 - Stratford Road Area Traffic Study and Improvement Feasibility Analysis

Study news

The Washington State Department of Transportation partnered with the City of Moses Lake on this effort to identify practical projects for the SR 17 and Stratford Road corridors. The study is finding ways to improve safety and mobility at the following locations:

  • SR 17 between Stratford and Randolph Roads, including enhanced active transportation access to Big Bend Community College.
  • Stratford Road between Broadway Ave (SR 171) and SR 17, including active transportation across the SR 17 bridge.
  • Intersections at Patton Blvd. @ Randolf Rd. and Valley Rd. @ Central Dr.

A public open house was held April 10 at the Moses Lake City Hall and an online open house was available through May 5.  Input from these public events was used to develop projects and priorities for this study.

Why is WSDOT conducting this study?

  • The study had four objectives:

  • Reach consensus on the highest-priority transportation needs
  • Identify cost effective solutions to address the needs
  • Create a plan to phase project construction as funding becomes available
  • Establish strong community commitment

Timeline

A final planning study is forthcoming.

Funding

This $150,000 study was jointly funded by WSDOT ($130,000 in State transportation funds) and the City of Moses Lake ($20,000).
