Colman Dock, the Seattle ferry terminal, is located on the Seattle Waterfront at Pier 52. This is where you access Washington State Ferries to Bainbridge Island and Bremerton. The Colman Dock Project completed major new elements in summer 2023, including the entry building along Alaskan Way and the elevated pedestrian connector for ticketing and terminal building access. Additional and final improvements will be completed in 2024—including removal of the temporary walkway. Please be alert to final construction activities while entering and exiting Colman Dock.

Tourist Information

Parking
There is no parking available at the Mukilteo ferry terminal. There are a few short-term spots available for passenger pick-up/drop-off. Paid parking near the terminal is managed by the City of Mukilteo and is limited to 4 hours. For more information, see the City of Mukilteo website. If you would like to park for more than 4 hours, please consider using the Park and Ride lots in Lynnwood or Everett and then using transit to get to the ferry terminal.

Airport
The Mukilteo Ferry Terminal is about a one-hour drive from the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Depending on traffic, the fastest route is to follow signs from the airport to WA-18 East, then take the I-5 North exit to Seattle. Travel on I-5 for about 30 miles, then take the WA-525 North exit 182 to Mukilteo. Follow WA-525 directly to the terminal.

Motorcycles
Motorcycles Arriving at Mukilteo
Motorcyclists do not need to wait in the vehicle ferry line and can instead ride all the way down to just before the toll booth. A red light will stop you before you take a slight left into the ferry terminal. The employee at the tollbooth will direct motorcycles to the designated staging lane.

Motorcycles should proceed, while on the dock, at no more than 10 mph. Use caution when the vessel car decks are wet.

Motorcycle Loading
The loading order at the Mukilteo ferry terminal is: bicycles, motorcycles, vehicles, and late arriving motorcycles as space permits.

Motorcycles are not a preferential loading category of users, as defined in Washington Administrative Code (WAC 468-300-700). However, motorcycles are often loaded prior to other vehicles for operational and vehicle staging purposes. If you are on a motorcycle and arrive at the dock after vehicle loading has started, you will need to wait until all other vehicles have been loaded before being loaded with your motorcycle.

Motorcycle Fares
Purchase your ferry tickets at the tollbooths, in advance at the kiosk inside the terminal building, or online. This route is one of our busiest, and it's encouraged to purchase your ticket ahead of time.

Trucks
See our commercial and oversized vehicles on ferries webpage for more information about driving a large vehicle onto the ferry.

If your vehicle has a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of more than 80,000 pounds, is wider than 8 feet 6 inches, has a ground clearance of less than 14 inches, OR is taller than 13 feet 4 inches, you must complete our Oversized/Overweight Vehicle Travel Request form (PDF 154KB) and email it to wsfinfo@wsdot.wa.gov. Please allow two business days for processing, For status updates on requests, call 206-464-6400 or 1-888-808-7977.

If your truck has a gross vehicle weight of over 80,000 pounds but you are hauling less than 80,000 pounds, you do not need to fill out a travel request form. However, you will need to provide a weight slip when you arrive at the terminal.

Bikes
If you're taking your bike onto the ferry at Mukilteo, you can skip the line of vehicle traffic and purchase tickets at a tollbooth. Then, take the green bike lane to the staging area provided near the terminal’s maintenance building. The Mukilteo Ferry Terminal does not have bike racks.

Bicyclists should arrive 20 minutes prior to departure time to be loaded at the beginning of loading process. If a bicyclist arrives after vehicle loading has begun, they will be loaded at the end of the load. Please walk your bike on and off the ferry to avoid passenger injury.

Train
Sound Transit operates the Sounder N-Line for commuter rail service from Mukilteo to Seattle with a stop in Edmonds. The Mukilteo Station for the N-Line is located at 920 First Street, SW of the Mukilteo Ferry Terminal, which is about an 800 feet walking distance from terminal. For more information about this service visit the Sounder train website.

HOV
Carpools and vanpools must be ticketed and in line 10 minutes before the scheduled sailing time to receive preferential loading. If you are late, you will be loaded on a space available basis at the end of the loading.

If no normal vehicle movement is occurring in the general ferry access lane, vanpools, carpools, and medical priority vehicles may now drive down the local access lane to any available toll booth. Please merge into ferry line traffic just prior to the tollbooths.

For information or to register for our rideshare program see our carpools and vanpools page.
